APC, AKUME EXPRESS CONFIDENCE IN NORTHERN SUPPORT FOR TINUBU AHEAD OF 2027

The All Progressives Congress (APC) and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, have expressed confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s support base in Northern Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general election.
APC National Secretary, Dr. Ajibola Basiru, said the party would rely on its grassroots structures, political alliances and the administration’s programmes while cautioning against complacency.
Akume, meanwhile, pointed to Nigeria’s North-South power rotation arrangement as a factor in the political discussions surrounding Tinubu’s bid for a second term.
Basiru also cited the party’s performance in off-cycle elections since 2023, stressing that the APC would continue its mobilisation efforts ahead of the next general election.
The remarks come amid opposition claims that the President’s support in the North has weakened, highlighting the region’s importance in the evolving political landscape ahead of 2027.
