PRESS STATEMENT

The Tinubu National Continuity Initiative (TNCI) has expressed concern over a petition challenging the reported 2027 senatorial ambition of Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, emphasizing that political ambitions should be assessed in accordance with the law and established facts.

TNCI maintains that public discourse on the governor’s reported political plans should be guided by constitutional provisions, applicable electoral laws, and due process rather than speculation or premature conclusions.

Governor Uzodimma is an established political figure whose record in Imo State and participation in national political affairs remain subjects of public discussion. TNCI believes that any assessment of his political ambitions should be conducted fairly and objectively, with due regard for the legal framework governing elective office.

The initiative maintains that every eligible Nigerian has the right to pursue elective office in accordance with the Constitution and applicable laws. It further stresses that expressing an intention to contest for the Senate does not, in itself, establish any wrongdoing.

Questions relating to eligibility, tenure, or potential conflicts of interest must be examined against the relevant constitutional and statutory provisions and determined by the appropriate authorities.

TNCI also recognizes that citizens and organizations have the right to submit petitions through lawful channels. However, it urges all parties to exercise that right responsibly and to distinguish allegations from established facts.

The initiative calls on the relevant authorities to examine the petition objectively, impartially, and in accordance with the law. It equally urges political stakeholders, media organizations, and members of the public to respect due process and avoid drawing definitive conclusions before the relevant issues have been properly considered.

TNCI reiterates its position that democratic institutions must safeguard lawful political participation, uphold the rule of law, and apply established legal standards consistently, irrespective of an individual’s political office or affiliation.
