Local government autonomy marks a turning point for grassroots governance in Nigeria, empowering Area councils to independently manage resources and directly impact their communities. To celebrate this transformative policy, we are proud to host the FCT Area Council Cup in honour of President, His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, whose visionary leadership made this historic advancement possible. With direct funding, the six area councils of the FCT—Abaji, Abuja Municipal, Bwari, Gwagwalada, Kuje, and Kwali, can now enhance service delivery and development across over 858 communities.

This progressive development has prompt an exciting competition that will unite talent, passion, and community spirit within the our Area Councils (Local Government Areas) in the FCT as 12 teams compete in celebration. Beyond the football, it’s a celebration of empowerment, progress, and the boundless potential of grassroots leadership. We look forward to an unforgettable tournament, capped by a later celebration barbecue to mark this significant achievement.
