The Director General of the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC), Hajia Princess Zahrah M Audu , recently paid a working visit to the Honourable Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, Ph.D., as part of ongoing efforts to advance Nigeria’s business climate reform agenda.

The strategic engagement focused on several key policy and legislative priorities critical to improving the ease of doing business in Nigeria. A major highlight of the discussions was the implementation framework and implications of the recently amended Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRCN) Act, 2023. The DG and the Honourable Speaker deliberated on the opportunities and responsibilities the amended Act presents, particularly in promoting transparency, accountability, and investor confidence across sectors.

In addition, the dialogue addressed the proposed tax reforms, with particular emphasis on their potential impact on Nigeria’s Free Trade Zones. Both parties acknowledged the importance of designing tax policies that support sustainable business growth while maintaining the competitiveness of Nigeria as a regional investment hub. They emphasized the need to ensure that reforms are harmonized across agencies and aligned with international best practices.

The visit also served as a platform to reinforce collaboration between PEBEC and the National Assembly especially the House of Representatives on institutionalizing vital business climate reforms through legislative support. DG Zahrah Mustapha Audu reaffirmed PEBEC’s commitment to working closely with lawmakers to promote and enact laws that eliminate bureaucratic bottlenecks, enhance regulatory transparency, and boost investor confidence.

Speaker Abbas Tajudeen expressed his support for PEBEC’s mission and pledged the House’s willingness to work collaboratively in driving policies that will sustainably improve Nigeria’s business environment. Both leaders agreed on the importance of interagency coordination, stakeholder engagement, and legislative backing in building a more robust and investor-friendly economy.

This high-level interaction marks a continued commitment to deepening reforms that will make doing business in Nigeria easier, more efficient, and more attractive to both local and international investors.
