In other to fullfil its mandate, of fighting administrative injustice and fostering peace and harmony within the Federal Capital Territory, the Public Complaint Commission FCT Office is soliciting for support and collaboration of the Royal rulers in the Federal Capital Territory.

To this end, the Commission led by Hon Musa Dikko, it’s FCT Commissioner today payed courtesy visits to the Royal Highness Highnesses Alhaji Ismaila Mohammud Danladi, Sarkin Karshi and Joseph Danfulani Narai, Sur’karuyi of Karu: all Chiefdoms in the Federal Capital Territory.

Speaking during the individual courtesy visits to the various Royal Highnesses today, Musa Dikko who also is the Saduana Maitama said the visits were to familiarize himself with the Royal Fathers, sensitize the people of Karshi and Karu respectively and reaffirm the commitment of the Public Complaint Commission in the FCT towards protection of their rights to administrative justice in their dealings with government at all levels and the private sector.

While disclosing that out of 8000 cases brought to the FCT Commission, 4000 have been successfully attended to as the remaining 4000 are being addressed by him since assumption of duty, the Saduana Maitama said that the nature of complaints received in the Federal Capital Territory range from issues of electricity distribution, road construction, rehabilitation of those affected by developmental efforts of government, water supply, and resettlement of indigenous people of Federal Capital Territory.

The Public Complaints Commissioner commended the efforts of the heads of traditional institutions in the Karshi and Karu in fostering peace and harmony within their jurisdictions while noting that the original inhabitants of these communities have been able to organize themselves in such peaceful manner and pose less problem, and thus helped the government greatly in planning and execution of projects..

“PCC is here to serve the public and we at the Commission have been mandated by the National Assembly to be proactive in our duties” the FCT Ombudsman said.

He however expressed his sadness over Gishiri community and how they did not adhere to traditional planing, he therefore urged Sariki Karshi and Sa’karuyi Karu to advocate for proper planning of traditional communities and needs to sensitize the members of the communities on hierarchy within the council.

Responding to the Commissioner’s addresses at their individual palaces, while the Sarkin Karshi called for PCC FCT’s help in advocating for the establishment of a dedicated Commission specifically to address issues of resettlement and Compensation within the FCT and the compensation of local farmers with plots of land instead of peanuts as compensation, the Sa’karuyi of Karu prayed for God’s wisdom to help the Dikko led Public Complaints Commission in the Federal Capital Territory navigate through the resolution of the numerous complaints before them and achieve peace and social justice in the Federal Capital Territory.

The courtesy visits aimed at establishing the importance of mutual communication between the traditional institutions, District Heads and the people of their individual communities and ensuring that issues bothering the people within the FCT are properly addressed while still maintaining peace and harmony for meaningful development in the FCT is ongoing as apart from Karshi and Karu communities, the FCT Ombudsman, Musa Dikko has also visited Bwari while Garki and Jiwa Chiefdoms will play host to the Commission on similar visits to their traditional rulers soon.
