FCTA Mandate Secretary, Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat, Hon. Ango Abdullahi Suleman has called for redoubled efforts from members of the FCT Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid landscapes (ACReSAL) Project Implementation Unit (PIU) to ensure the project’s success.

Make ACReSAL a Success Story in FCT” – Mandate Secretary, Hon Ango Charges PIU Team.

Ango made the charge during a visit to the Project Office in Gwarimpa, where he emphasized the project’s critical role in addressing the challenges of climate change and widespread land degradation resulting from rapid development in the FCT.

He commended the project’s community-focused interventions, noting their potential to enhance resilience and improve livelihoods of residents.

Hon Ango reaffirmed the full support of the FCT Administration, stressing the need for accelerated implementation, given the limited timeframe of the Project. He also underscored the importance of equitable spreading of ACReSAL interventions across all the six Area Councils to foster inclusivity and minimize grievances.

In his words “”With only about 2-3 years remaining in the project timeline, we need visible results in all six Area Councils. Equity in implementation isn’t optional. It is our obligation to every resident of the FCT”

He added, “We very much appreciate what the World Bank is doing through the ACReSAL Project. The various interventions are in tune with the efforts of the FCT Administration, under our Honourable Minister, FCT Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike and Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, to develop a city not only with world-class infrastructure but one that also empowers its people to fully utilize and benefit from their land resources”.

Earlier, the Project Coordinator, Mrs. Caroline Opara, welcomed the Mandate Secretary and provided an overview of ACReSAL’s achievements and ongoing interventions in the FCT.

She emphasized: “Every one of our interventions is a reflection of the actual needs of communities, which we obtain from community engagement while ensuring they align with the Project Development Objectives (PDOs) of ACReSAL “

Hon Ango’s appointment as Mandate Secretary also designates him as the Chairman of the FCT ACReSAL Technical Committee.
