Hon. Sesi Oluwaseun Whingan, the Member of the House of Representatives for Badagry Federal Constituency, has concluded a two-day intensive training on biogas technology for 50 youths across Badagry Local Government, Olorunda, and Badagry West Local Council Development Area. The initiative, held in collaboration with the National Biotechnology Research and Development Agency (NBRDA), aims to empower participants with practical knowledge of biogas technology for domestic utilization while promoting renewable energy solutions in the community.
The training, which combined theoretical sessions with hands-on practical demonstrations, was facilitated by experts from NBRDA, including Mrs. Mariam Funmilayo Ibrahim, Chief Research Officer, and Mr. Damilola Adeyemo, Senior Research Officer. As a testament to his commitment to youth empowerment and sustainable development, Hon. Whingan provided each participant with a ₦100,000 start-up grant to kickstart their ventures in biogas technology. Hassan Mihode Hammed, the Personal Assistant to the Member of the House of Representatives, emphasized the importance of renewable energy as a tool for community development and economic empowerment. “This initiative aligns with my vision of creating opportunities for our youths and promoting sustainable practices that will benefit not just individuals but our entire constituency. With this training, you now have the tools and resources to become change agents in the energy sector,” he stated.
The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to Hon. Whingan for the opportunity and the financial support. They pledged to utilize the skills and resources provided to establish sustainable biogas ventures in their respective communities.
