The Honourable Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, on Friday, paid a courtesy visit to the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Mrs. Kemi Nandap, at the NIS Headquarters in Abuja.

The visit was aimed at fostering collaboration between the Lagos State Government and the Nigeria Immigration Service to streamline entry procedures for tourists arriving in Lagos, particularly at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport.

Speaking during the meeting, Mrs. Benson-Awoyinka emphasized the need to enhance the ease of entry into Lagos, given the increasing influx of visitors following a highly successful fourth quarter of 2024, which saw a surge in tourism, cultural, and entertainment activities. She noted that as Lagos continues to solidify its position as Africa’ s leading tourism destination, improving the arrival experience is essential to sustaining growth in the sector.

In response, Mrs. Nandap assured the Commissioner of the NIS’s commitment to working with the Lagos State Government to ensure that visitors, especially tourists and business travellers, enjoy a seamless and welcoming entry process.

The meeting underscores Lagos State’s proactive efforts to strengthen its tourism ecosystem through strategic partnerships that enhance visitor experience and boost the local economy.

Lagos is open for the world.
