SPEECH DELIVERED BY THE EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN ABAJI AREA COUNCIL HONOURABLE ABUBAKAR UMAR ABDULLAHI ON THE OCCASION OF TURBANING CEREMONY OUTING OF HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS MALAM MUSA USMAN AMSHAGA AS THE 14TH OHIODUMI OF PANDAGI CHIEFDOM.

It is with a heart full of gratitude and humility that I stand before you today. We are not just gathered
to mark the end of a long-standing conflict – we are here to celebrate the beginning of peace, unity, and progress.
For the past (15) fifteen long years, our traditional institutions, which ought to be the bedrock of wisdom and unity, were weakened by division. Brothers stood on opposite sides. Elders could not sit together. Progress were delayed, and our people bore the brunt of the discord.
Throughout this time, it was painful to witness how the fabric of our community was strained by
disputes over succession, boundaries, and recognition. I knew in my heart that healing was possible, but it would require courage, patience, and most importantly, listening.
Today, I am proud to say that after years of dialogue, careful mediation, and mutual respect, we have achieved what once seemed impossible. The parties involved have chosen peace over pride, unity over division, and the greater good over individual interest.
I wish to sincerely thank the traditional rulers who embraced the path of reconciliation. Your wisdom
and humility are the true pillars of this peace. I also recognize the roles played by our elders, youth leaders, women’s groups, and stakeholders who tirelessly worked behind the scenes to bring this resolution to life.
Let us be reminded that traditional leadership is not just about titles or thrones – it is about service, legacy, and the preservation of harmony. The strength of our heritage lies in our ability to settle disputes with dignity and restore trust where it was broken.
As we close this chapter of discord, I call on all of us to protect the peace we’ve achieved. Let us
focus on development, cultural preservation, and the empowerment of our people. Let our children
grow up in a land where unity is not just spoken, but practiced.
Once again, I thank you all for your support and trust throughout this journey. Together, we have
proven that even the deepest wounds can be healed when hearts are willing.
May peace continue to reign in our land(Amin).
Thank you, and God bless.
