Minister for Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, earlier today, attended the AfCFTA Digital Trade Workshop and Global Marketing which held at the State House Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, Abuja.

In his remarks, the Minister stated that the theme of the event indicates the urgent need to use the power of trade, digital innovation and youth entrepreneurship to drive Nigeria’s economic growth, and to position the country as a leading player in the global market.

He noted that Nigerian youth are blessed with strong and enterprising spirit, which require strategic investment, policy support, and digital transformation to unlock.

Olawande also reaffirmed the commitment of the Ministry of Youth Development to digital trade development through the Nigerian Youth Academy and
the Nigerian Youth Investment Fund (NYIF), with the latter conceptualised as a source of funding for aspiring business owners.

“Through the NYIF, the government is providing capital for businesses and young entrepreneurs engaged in agriculture, manufacturing, textiles, creative industries, and digital services and other export items so they can meet International trade standards,” he said.

On a final note, the Minister appreciated and commended the President of Nigeria, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR; Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima GCON, and all partners involved in initiating and driving such a critical initiative.

In attendance at the event are: Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment; Hannatu Musawa, Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Economy; Alhaji Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, Comptroller-General of Customs, among other dignitaries.
