KUJE CHAIRMAN HOSTS FCT MINISTER, SECURES PROSPECTIVE APPROVAL FOR KUJE–KWAKU–YENCHE–RUBOCHI ROAD PROJECT

The Executive Chairman of Kuje Area Council, Hon. Danjuma Samuel Shekwolo, has hosted the FCT Minister and leader of the Rainbow Coalition, Barr. Nyesom Wike, alongside other political leaders and stakeholders, during an interactive stakeholders’ session in Kuje, Abuja.
During the engagement, the Chairman highlighted Kuje’s early participation in the Rainbow Coalition, noting that the area council was the first to welcome the coalition and establish its office. He explained that the meeting was organised to sensitise residents and stakeholders on the political direction ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Hon. Shekwolo expressed appreciation to the FCT Minister for his leadership, support for Kuje’s development, and the appointment of the Mandate Secretary for Agriculture and Rural Development. He also commended ongoing road infrastructure projects, including the Airport Road–Tipper Garage corridor and the Tipper Garage–Gwagwalada route, as well as the upgrading of traditional institutions through the elevation of traditional rulers to first- and second-class status.

A major highlight of the session was the prospect of approval for the Kuje–Kwaku–Yenche–Rubochi Road Project, which is expected to improve connectivity and support socioeconomic activities across the communities along the corridor. The proposed project was discussed in the course of the stakeholders’ engagement.
The Chairman further noted that the Rainbow Coalition had created an avenue for APC and PDP leaders in Kuje to engage and work together on issues affecting the people. He emphasised the importance of collective decision-making, political dialogue and sustained cooperation among stakeholders.
In his remarks, the APC FCT Chairman commended the Minister for encouraging a more peaceful political atmosphere in the territory. He observed that the current environment had provided greater room for political engagement without the attacks on individuals and property that had characterised previous political activities.
The stakeholders’ session underscored the importance of dialogue, cooperation and infrastructure development in addressing the needs of Kuje residents, while providing a platform for political leaders to discuss their priorities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
