SAFE SCHOOL: NSCDC TAKES PROACTIVE STEPS TOWARDS SECURITY OF SCHOOLS IN FCT, ORGANISES REFRESHER TRAINING FOR PERSONNEL.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Command, has organised a refresher training for its Area Commanders, Divisional Officers, and Desk officers on the Safe School programme.

The two days in-house training organized by the Commandant, Olusola Odumosu, PhD, commenced on Monday, to broaden the scope of the participants and to equip officers with adequate modern security skills for utmost results.

Declaring the training closed on tues, May 13th, Commandant Odumosu, charged the personnel to work hard, imbibe the lessons learnt during the training and justify the confidence reposed in the Corps by the government to ensure safety of schools and the students in the FCT.

“We must be proactive in our approach, and you must perform your duty with utmost dedication and determination so that school environment and our children are safe at all times,” he charged.

The FCT helmsman, urged his officers to carve a niche for themselves, using the resources at their disposal to achieve positive results in the interest of the citizens and residents of the FCT.

“As the lead agency in the Safe School programme, protection of the environment and students is very sacrosanct.

“You must thrive hard to further advance school security through your excellent performances,” Odumosu stated.

He advised the officers to maintain active surveillance and constant patrol of school environments, while at the same time maintaining a balanced cordial relationship with the schools’ management to guarantee confidence and allay unnecessary fears or apprehension.

“Remember that, the Safe School Initiative, among other mandates of the Corps are our own ways of rendering quality services to our communities and for that reason, you must give it your best shot,” the Commandant said.

The FCT Boss, gave his officers marching orders to ensure that they generate accurate data and statistics of schools in the FCT to assist in planning for a comprehensive security coverage by the Corps.
