The Tinubu National Continuity Initiative (TNCI) has commended Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Senator Hope Uzodimma, for his leadership, political coordination and mobilisation efforts in support of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

Addressing a press conference in Ibadan over the weekend, the coalition of professionals group reaffirmed its commitment to the re-election of President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, as well as national development, informed civic participation and constructive engagement with government policies.

In a communique issued and signed after the briefing by Comrade Oladimeji Odeyemi, National Coordinator, and Hon. Babajide Alofe, National Publicity Secretary, the TNCI stressed that national development and democratic stability must take precedence over personal confrontations and political rivalries.

Operating under the motto, One People. One Nation. One Future., the organisation said Nigeria’s future depended on serious engagement with economic policies, institutional performance, national unity and the welfare of citizens.

It stressed that the Federal Government’s economic reforms deserved sustained, evidence based assessment, noting that fiscal stability, investment, infrastructure, employment, security, purchasing power and the rising cost of living remained critical issues affecting Nigerians.

According to the group, citizens deserve credible information on the administration’s policy objectives, measurable achievements, implementation challenges and areas requiring improvement.

It added that a mature democracy must allow government to receive credit where justified by evidence while making room for constructive criticism where necessary.

The organisation singled out Governor Uzodimma for recognition, citing his support for President Tinubu, political mobilisation and strategic engagements ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

It also acknowledged his role in promoting intergovernmental relations, coordinating political interests and facilitating discussions among governors on national governance, economic reforms and public policy.

TNCI urged the Imo governor to sustain these efforts, encourage informed public debate and strengthen cooperation among political stakeholders.

The group maintained that Nigeria’s current challenges required effective leadership and dialogue across regional, political and institutional boundaries, adding that public officials who contributed meaningfully to national engagement deserved recognition.

Making its views known on Senate President Godswill Akpabio, the group emphasised the need for restraint, institutional maturity and respect for the legitimate political ambitions of elected officials across the country.

It said reported remarks attributed to Akpabio concerning governors seeking Senate seats and the availability of the Senate presidency deserved scrutiny if they accurately reflected what was said and the context in which the comments were made.

According to TNCI, public political gatherings should not become platforms for statements that could be interpreted as dismissing the ambitions of other elected officials.

The group stressed that the Senate presidency was a constitutional institution, not the personal property of its occupant, adding that the position must remain subject to constitutional procedures and the decisions of elected representatives.

It urged Akpabio to ensure that his public statements reflected the dignity of his office and promoted substantive discussions on national development rather than unnecessary political exchanges.

The organisation also called for greater clarity and consistency in the political activities of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

While acknowledging that political cooperation across party lines was not inherently contradictory, TNCI said public officials who supported an administration while maintaining independent political structures had a responsibility to explain their objectives clearly.

It cautioned against the use, or perceived use, of political coalitions to undermine the participation and legitimate interests of other stakeholders in their respective states.

The group declared its opposition to any political coalition that worked at cross purposes with the interests of stakeholders, insisting that political alliances must be transparent, accountable and consistent with democratic principles.

It added that if Wike’s political coalition was designed to advance specific political objectives or support shared policy goals, its purpose, structure and relationship with the wider political landscape should be clearly communicated to the public.

TNCI maintained that political influence carried responsibility and that public figures should welcome legitimate scrutiny of their political positions rather than treat questions as acts of hostility.

The organisation called for a political environment driven by substantive debate rather than personal confrontations, urging leaders to focus on economic conditions, security, employment, institutional performance and citizens’ welfare.

It said Governor Uzodimma, Akpabio and Wike should be assessed against the same standards of constitutional propriety, transparency, professionalism and public service, irrespective of their political affiliations or approaches.

The group reiterated that no public office should be treated as a personal entitlement and that political alliances must be explained honestly, with leadership judged by conduct, performance and respect for institutions.

In its concluding remarks, TNCI called on Nigerians across the six geopolitical zones, the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory to place national interest, peaceful coexistence and responsible democratic participation above partisan divisions.

It urged political leaders, professionals, community stakeholders, public institutions and citizens to engage in national affairs with maturity, mutual respect and a willingness to examine evidence.

The organisation noted that Nigerians could hold different political opinions while sharing a common commitment to national stability, economic opportunity, accountable governance and a better future for the next generation.

It further called on Nigerians and the international community to continue supporting President Tinubu’s administration, expressing the hope that its policies would deliver democratic dividends to ordinary citizens and help restore Nigeria’s position as the Pride of the Black Race.
