ABUJA, NIGERIA — Senator George Akume, CON, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), joined party leaders and stakeholders at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, for the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as preparations for the 2027 presidential election gather momentum.

President Tinubu’s charge to the council emphasised the importance of unity, discipline, coordination and collective responsibility in organising the party’s campaign activities ahead of the forthcoming election.

The inauguration provides a platform for APC leaders to coordinate strategies, strengthen party structures and communicate the party’s programmes and priorities to Nigerians.

Senator Akume, a former governor of Benue State and former senator, remains a prominent figure in Nigeria’s political landscape. In his capacity as SGF, he plays a central role in coordinating government business and facilitating collaboration across the Federal Government.

The event marks an organisational step in the APC’s preparations for 2027, with attention expected to focus on campaign coordination, grassroots engagement and communicating the party’s agenda to the electorate.
