The Honourable Musa Dikko, Public Complaints Commissioner for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), held his first case review with the commission’s staff today, focusing on the importance of professionalism and confidentiality in handling cases.
During the review, Honourable Dikko issued a stern warning to staff, urging them to refrain from sharing confidential notes with complainants or respondents while stressing that it is illegal for outsiders to have access to such sensitive documents, emphasizing that maintaining confidentiality is crucial to the integrity of the commission’s operations.
The meeting, which saw presentations from the staff of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) and Zone 6, provided a platform for various units to discuss their ongoing cases as Honourable Dikko provided guidance as well as encouraged staff to collaborate with their unit heads if they faced uncertainties in their work.
“As public servants, it is our duty to handle all cases with the utmost professionalism and confidentiality. Any breach of this trust undermines the work we do here,” Dikko remarked during the review.
The commissioner also urged the staff to improve their communication with unit heads, ensuring they seek clarification on any areas where they need further understanding or guidance.
This first case review under Honourable Dikko’s leadership signals a strong commitment to ensuring that the FCT Public Complaints Commission operates with transparency, accountability, and the highest standards of legal and ethical conduct.
